One of our core values is our commitment to effectiveness and impact. Thus, strengthening the cultural competency of nonprofit organizations has emerged as an important strategy in our work.
We acknowledge the lack of diversity within many of our grantee organizations. Through our Organizational Effectiveness program, we assist grantees in prioritizing and enhancing diversity within their organizations.
Through our Reproductive Health Program, we fund efforts to expand the network of organizations working on protecting women’s access to reproductive health services in the U.S. to include organizations representing and serving communities of color. The program also invests in culturally competent intermediary organizations such as the Women’s Foundation of California, which can enhance our own capacity to identify, support, and fund organizations working with diverse constituencies.
