We invest in community-based organizations—such as food banks and housing navigation and shelter providers—that connect people to resources they need to be strong and economically resilient.
Families are central to healthy communities and drive our region’s economy and culture. Throughout our history, the Packard Foundation has supported organizations working to ensure local families have access to essential community services, especially when they need it the most.
We envision a future when all families across San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey counties can access the supports they need to prosper.
We fund organizations that:
- Provide county-wide access to healthy food and work to reduce food insecurity in our communities.
- Address the need for homeless prevention and shelter services for families, especially those who survive domestic violence or are most at risk of displacement from their housing and communities.
- Help families navigate access to a variety of social services, public benefits for food and housing, and other essential programs so that they can thrive.

Interested grant seekers are encouraged to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) through the Local Grantmaking Program’s open LOI process. Please be sure to review the Local Grantmaking Program’s FAQ page before submitting an LOI and read through all guidelines to ensure that your organization or programs align with the Program’s funding priorities. Please note that the LOI is a means to introduce your organization or program to the Foundation and is not a formal proposal nor a guarantee of funding.
