Joanne Tong is a grants officer at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. She manages Foundation-wide grants management processes. In her role, she leads grantmaking operations to drive equitable outcomes in maternal health and child development and to make California’s communities strong, resilient places where all families can thrive. She also collaborates across the Foundation to develop and implement grantmaking best practices. Prior to this role, she was a program associate and coordinated program operations and strategy implementation with the Children and Families initiative.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Joanne worked for The California Wellness Foundation where she supported grantmaking to organizations that address the health needs of Californians. Joanne also worked for a state-funded precollege program, the San Francisco College Access Center. Joanne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a Master of Arts in Equity and Social Justice in Education.

Outside of work, Joanne is an escape room enthusiast and an avid hiker.
