Meg Caldwell is the Packard Foundation’s Ocean Director, working to protect and restore the ocean for people and nature. As an environmental attorney, she brings over 35 years of experience working on interdisciplinary teams, including over 20 years as a faculty member at Stanford Law School, to help solve some of the greatest challenges facing ocean and coastal ecosystems.
Meg is passionate about public service. She served on the California Coastal Commission, including two years as its chair, during which she also served on the California Coastal Conservancy board. She was senior consultant to the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling and currently serves on the board of Planet Women. Meg holds a Bachelor’s in Science in business administration (with an emphasis on economic analysis and policy) from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
