Joanne Tong is a grants officer supporting the Families & Communities goal area. In this role, she oversees the grantmaking budgets for Families & Communities while supporting Foundation-wide grants management initiatives. She manages and collaborates on special projects that drive toward improvement and best practices in our grants management processes. In addition, Joanne serves as a key advisor on grantmaking that supports organizations engaged in domestic public policy and advocacy work. Before this role, she was a program associate and coordinated program operations and strategy implementation with the Children and Families initiative.   

Prior to joining the Foundation, Joanne worked for The California Wellness Foundation, where she supported grantmaking to organizations that address the health needs of Californians. Joanne also worked for a state-funded pre-college program, the San Francisco College Access Center. Joanne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a Master of Arts in Equity and Social Justice in Education.    

Outside of work, Joanne is an escape room enthusiast and an avid hiker.
