About David Schuster's Work

Quantum mechanics underlies nearly all modern technology, having enabled the classical computer, and literally redefined our units of measure through quantum metrology. More recently, a new generation of experiments has begun to assert direct control over quantum mechanical systems, in areas encompassing computation, communication, and sensing. Our group studies digital quantum information, developing novel qubits, architectures, and quantum error correction methods. Additionally, our group studies hybrid quantum systems, which are useful for sensing and communication applications as well as computation. Finally, our group explores condensed matter physics in the context of synthetic materials composed of strongly interacting microwave photons.
