My laboratory studies the development and function of the vertebrate brain. To address these questions, we are developing new technologies that will allow us to identify genes involved in the assembly of brain circuits. Recently, we have generated a new technique that allows for the generation of transgenic animals in species of great interest for neurobiologists that were, until now, refractory to genetic studies. In addition, we have developed a method with which we can monitor gene activity in specialized brain regions with single-cell resolution. In the next years, we will apply these new techniques to analyze how new neurons integrate into the circuits of the different brain areas.
