I am the Managing General Partner for DCVCBio, a $250M life science venture capital fund, investing at the interface of artificial intelligence and the life sciences. I have spent more than a decade in life science venture capital in the San Francisco Bay Area. Previously, I have led Monsanto Growth Ventures, the VC arm of Monsanto, prior to its acquisition by Bayer, and was Managing Director at Burrill & Company. I received a Packard Fellowship while on the faculty of Purdue University. Several of my recent investments include: Atomwise: Series A financing. Developing deep neural networks for discovery new small molecule modulators of protein targets to accelerate the discovery of new medicines. Blue River Technologies. Acquired by John Deere. Developed the use of machine vision and advanced robotics to reduce pesticide applications by 95% in agriculture.
