About Ana Asenjo-Garcia's Work

My research focus is on theoretical quantum optics and its intersection with quantum information and condensed matter physics. In particular, a significant part of my research focuses on emergent optical phenomena that arises in ensembles of atoms or other quantum emitters. When emitters decay collectively, dissipative interactions generate correlations and entanglement between them. This is the perfect playground for observing interesting dynamics: a combination of complexity, emergence, dissipation, long-range interactions, and non-linearity. I am interested not only in understanding fundamental physics associated with strongly-interacting atoms and photons but also in how to exploit these phenomena to develop novel applications in quantum information science, communication, sensing, and metrology.
