Purpose

To support the strengthening of local capacities to advance community-led conservation, climate and management actions in Marine and Coastal Areas for Indigenous Peoples (MCAIP); conduct a learning exchange between donors and local communities to explore collaboration opportunities and, support Chaitén indigenous communities and fishers in the marine spatial planning and fisheries management on their Territorial Use Rights in Fisheries. Additionally, this support will enable Caulin MCAIP to scale up the kelp reforestation program and explore sustainable aquaculture opportunities for the local community.

Purpose

to conduct climate change adaptation and mitigation actions through small-scale macroalgae aquaculture in the Caulín Marine and Costal Area for Indigenous People (MCAIP). Through this grant Caulin MCAIP administrators will secure infrastructure and technical support for the first practical experience of kelp restoration in MCAIP. This grant also allowed for a First Nations delegation from Chile to participate in the United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.
