CalMatters is a nonpartisan and nonprofit news organization bringing Californians stories that probe, explain, and explore solutions to quality of life issues while holding our leaders accountable. They work to improve California’s democracy by making its government more transparent and accountable and giving Californians the information they need to understand and engage with that government. 

CIVICUS is a global alliance of civil society organizations and activists dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society throughout the world. They are a membership alliance with more than 15,000 members in more than 175 countries. Established in 1993, they are currently headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, with additional hubs across the globe.
