Equality Now is a global human rights leader in using the power of law to advance gender equality and end violence and discrimination against women and girls since 1992.   In 2004, Equality Now founded the Solidarity for African Women’s Rights (SOAWR), a coalition of over 70 civil society organizations in over 30 African countries SOAWR's mission is to ensure that the rights of women and girls, as articulated in the Maputo Protocol, are prioritized by leaders and policymakers. SOAWR has contributed to the accelerated ratification of the Maputo Protocol by over 44 countries, making it the fastest human rights instrument to be ratified on the continent.
