Katie Harkin joined the Packard Foundation in September 2016 as a program associate for the Children, Families, and Communities program. In this capacity, she supports the Early Learning subprogram and the Informal Care strategy and Starting Smart and Strong. Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked for Peninsula Family Service, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen the community by providing children, families, and older adults the support and tools to realize their full potential and lead healthy, stable lives. As a grant writer, she secured funding for the organization’s programs and expanded program evaluation and outcomes measurement.
Katie has worked for a variety of nonprofit organizations in the social services sector, and also spent a year with AmeriCorps as a Preschool Classroom Coach, focusing on improving kindergarten readiness at state-funded preschools in San Mateo County. Katie holds a master’s degree in public administration from San Francisco State University and a B.A. in English from the University of California, Irvine.
