Amy Iftekhar is a program associate with the Global Reproductive Health initiative. She provides programmatic and grantmaking support to advance reproductive health and rights for women and young people, with a focus on the Sub-Saharan Africa region.  

Amy has over 20 years of experience working on reproductive health and rights and has had the privilege, over her long tenure, of supporting the Foundation’s grantmaking efforts in countries such as Ethiopia, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, India, and more. She has played a role in projects such as the Images of Empowerment and has contributed to the improvement of internal grantmaking operations.  

Amy has a master’s degree in public health from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Amy serves on the board of two local nonprofit organizations, volunteers with her children’s Girl Scout troops, and loves to travel with her family and take photographs.
