Damon James is the associate general counsel to the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, supporting the work of the Office of the General Counsel and assisting in grantmaking, operations, governance issues, and limited tax work.

Damon joined the Foundation in September 2018 from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, where he oversaw risk and compliance as well as international grants administration.  He has extensive prior experience working with local nonprofit organizations, including in youth sports, university athletics administration, legal aid, organizational development consulting, and healthcare.

A Bay Area native, Damon earned his J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law, specializing in comparative law and serving as an editor for both the Journal of International Law and the Sports Law Symposium Proceedings. Damon holds a B.A. in political science from UCLA, where he minored in geography/environmental studies and competed on the men’s soccer team.  Damon is admitted to practice in California.
