About Brandi Cossairt's Work

Fulfilling the transformational promise of nanoscience requires solving fundamental challenges in controlling the composition and interfaces of nanomaterials with atom-level precision. Therefore, our aim is to make contributions in two key areas of research: 1) understanding the mechanisms of nucleation and growth of semiconductor nanocrystals and 2) understanding what factors are critical for selective energy transduction in semiconductor nanocrystals for application in energy efficient solid state lighting, electricity generation, and fuel formation. Our research will enable predictive control over the synthesis of colloidal nanomaterials and allow for the manipulation of these materials at the level of the electron for the first time.
