John joined the Foundation as its first chief investment officer in November 2007. Prior to coming to the Foundation, John was director of Hedge Funds and Fixed Income at the University of Chicago Office of Investments, which manages the $6.2 billion university endowment. Before that he served as managing director and head of Fixed Income at Duff & Phelps Investment Management. He was previously investment director at the Commonwealth Edison Pension Fund, where he ran the $1.5 billion fixed income portfolio and was responsible for broad portfolio management initiatives. Prior to that, he held various positions in strategic planning, economic analysis, and market research within the ComEd organization. John holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been a CFA charter holder since 1992, a CFP certificate holder since 1999, and a CAIA charter holder since 2007.
