Januar is an advisor for the Indonesia Marine Strategy at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. He joined the Packard Foundation as a consultant in January 2020, where he facilitates relationships for the Foundation in Indonesia. He also provides advice on emerging issues in Indonesia. Januar started his career as a lawyer at a prominent law firm in Indonesia. He then switched gears to the public sector working for the government of Indonesia. Prior to joining the Packard Foundation, Januar spent 4.5 years working at the Presidential Task Force to Combat Illegal Fishing as policy coordinator, international relations lead, and speechwriter. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Universitas Indonesia and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for a master’s degree in Environmental Law and Policy at Tulane University. Outside of work, Januar is an avid guitar player who used to play gigs during his college years. He also enjoys travel to learn about different cultures and likes to binge-watch animes and sitcoms.
