Fernando is a Flexible Program Assistant for the Grants and Data Operations Team. In this role, he provides administrative support to the grantmaking goals at the Foundation. Fernando graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Media Studies. In his time there, Fernando researched and wrote a masters thesis exploring the relationship between local journalism and philanthropy as a means of combating disinformation issues in the United States. 

Prior to joining the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Fernando worked at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation as a Temporary Grants Associate, where he supported the grant processing infrastructure. Fernando is passionate about human rights, access to information, and coalition building.
