Population and Reproductive Health
Population & Reproductive Health

For over 40 years, the Foundation has tackled major reproductive health challenges in the United States. The Foundation has helped individuals to fully exercise their reproductive rights through access to services like pre- and postnatal care, sex education, contraception, and emergency obstetrical care, understanding that this will have a lasting impact on families and communities. Support for reproductive health issues remains a priority in our Local Grantmaking program, as does support for education and programming around teen pregnancy prevention.

What We Fund

1. Funding is provided for organizations whose primary mission is to provide high quality family planning and reproductive health care to women, men, and teens in our local communities. Further, funding is also provided for local organizations or projects that advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible choices.

2. Funding is provided for organizations and projects that support education and provide programming related to the reduction of teen pregnancy.

3. Funding is provided for programs that work with young women and girls to develop their personal skills, confidence and capacity to make informed decisions. We are particularly interested in programs that support leadership development that demonstrates links to teen pregnancy prevention and appropriate reproductive health issues.

What We Look For

1. Organizations that have clearly articulated goals, strong leadership and governance, quality service delivery, strong fiscal management, and a high level of community commitment.

2. Organizations that have a track record of success working with teens with strong teen pregnancy education or intervention strategies that are tailored for varying levels of development. We also favor projects that encourage community collaboration, and that potentially involve parents, neighborhood organizations, schools, health providers, and youth leadership. Programs that target underserved populations and/or areas are given priority.

What We Do Not Fund

Except in special circumstances, support is not provided for endowment campaigns.
