The David and Lucile Packard Foundation Names Diana Scearce Evaluation and Learning Director
February, 15, 2012
LOS ALTOS, California – The David and Lucile Packard Foundation announced today that Diana Scearce will join the Foundation as its Evaluation and Learning Director in mid-March. In this critical role, Scearce will lead the Foundation in integrating monitoring and evaluation with program strategy and continuous learning. She will work collaboratively with program areas, providing direct consultation and technical assistance to ensure that assessment and evaluation enrich the Foundation’s impact.
“Diana’s deep experience with strategy development and innovation coupled with her knowledge of best practices in continuous learning and assessment will be a terrific complement to the expertise of our program staff and grantees as we work to achieve our mutual program goals,” said Chris DeCardy, Vice President and Director of Programs.
Diana comes to the Packard Foundation from a 13 year career in consulting, working as a strategist, facilitator and researcher. During this time, she was a director at the social change consulting firm, Monitor Institute, where she led a range of initiatives helping foundations, nonprofits and multi-stakeholder groups grow their impact. Prior to joining Monitor Institute, Diana was a practitioner at Global Business Network—a futurist think tank, learning network, and strategy consulting firm—where her work focused on long-term thinking and strategy development for nonprofits and foundations.
In her efforts to help foundations and nonprofits increase their impact, Diana has written and co-authored several reports and articles, including Catalyzing Networks for Social Change: A Funder’s Guide (Monitor Institute and Grantmakers for Effective Organizations), “Working Wikily” (Stanford Social Innovation Review) and What If? The Art of Scenario Thinking for Nonprofits (Global Business Network).
Diana holds a master’s in public administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, a master’s in Asian religions from University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, and she is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vassar College. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two sons.
“I am thrilled by the opportunity to build on the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to effectiveness in grantmaking. I look forward to collaborating with the team,” said Scearce.
